Me: I use a MAC.

Client: That is a problem. Do you have access to a PC? I am not a supporter of Apple products.

Me: No, I don’t have access to a PC, but this will have little to no effect on the work itself.

Client: I am a Christian and Apple products are sinful, I do not want our website to be created by a product made by this corrupt group. You need only look at their logo, an apple with a bite taken from it. Do you not know the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden? If I allowed you to create my website on a MAC I would be just like Adam, taking a bite of the forbidden fruit.

I was asked to play in our softball league All-Star game and as I got to the field found out I was our starting catcher, a great suprise. Remember I’m the little guy on the softball field and typically those weighing in under 150lbs are the youth who’s dad is the coach, so I was excited to be able to be representing our team in the game. I opened the first 3 innings of the game by batting 2 for 2, scoring once and tossing out one man stealing second. Our team won 16-10 and all around we had a great night of softball.

Then today was Karen & Lee (Dancy) ’s wedding. I was asked months ago to be an usher in the wedding and took my frequent role of emcee of the reception for those weddings in the church / extended families weddings. We had a great night of fun and had great response from those attending, however, I’ll be keeping my day job.

We’ve been celebrating the summer and will continue to as we stay busy in the michigan weather. Tomorrow begins another busy week and hopefully a trip down to Bashar Salon for a hair cut as this too has been neglected in the busy months of summer. Next weekend will be full of St. Clair boat races, Milkhouse Mobile Grill (at St. Clair Fair) and entertaining one of our new designers from New York City.

Well tomorrow marks and another year and if I’m not mistaken some time around in the early morning I will have been ‘out’ and breathing for 28 years. As I’ve aged I’ve realized that each birthday brings opportunity to reflect on the years past and this year would be no different.

This past year was full of changes for Shannon (tux) and I. We’ve moved from our home in Indiana, to the house I grew up in on McBrady St. and then to our current home with the Pembertons. We changed jobs, titles, drivers licenses, grocery stores and I’m fairly sure I have a different type of shampoo now as well. As I start another year (and 28 feels old) I’ve created my ten most memorable events of 27 and my looking forward to 28 lists.

Its amazing to me that even as I post I’m realizing how unsure I am about what year 27 has been and what year 28 will be. I have some searching to do. I feel that I am for the first time home, and my heart knows that as I process out who I am and what my heart is after, that its safe. This is important to note.

In 28 minutes I’ll know what 28 is really like. Here is to 28.

I have to admit that I’m am being forced to write this blog, in return I get Matt’s company at the grocery store.   I do not classify myself as much of a blogger or really enjoy doing it but here it goes anyways.  The chosen topics for blog time by my beloved Matthew, are about Rock Band and Wolfgang Puck.  Our dear Brazilian friend Mattheus gave Matt Rock Band for his birthday. Matt has wanted it forever, so it was a very nice surprise.  As you can see, I am rocking out on the drums, which I think is my favorite instrument to play.  However, I have a little practicing to do because Jolene has become our little Rock Band star on both the drums and vocals (she is either a natural or has a little too much free time on her hands ! ).

On to Wolfgang Puck… It was a spontaneous trip

I had to share what was another Rhett & Link amazing laugh. If you’ve not seen these guys your in for a good time and to see more check out their page (www.rhettandlink.com). I’ll be honest I don’t think I knew how to spell Guacamole before this song. Rhett & Link are amazing in that they are incredibly creative, talented, and very G-Rated Family Fun.

It also makes me think of Thanksgiving time with either Dij or Pete making up the Guac’ for Fajita night. Enjoy.

A cold winters day down by the Blue Water Bridge

Last week when the weather dipped this low the water actually gave off heat to the the rest of the city, creating a heavy fog that stretched accross to Canada. It added to the beauty of my morning drive, even if I was unable to feel my hands.

Also wanted to share a new wave of web development that I’m jumping on board with. Twitter. I’m amazed at the simplicity of the concept yet amazed at how their service has taken off so fast. To sum up what I’ve gathered, Twitter is an online text messaging service for friends to send quick 140 character text messages accross the web, mobile phones and even into email boxes of their followers. I now have their service linked to our blog (bottom right corner), Facebook, my cell phone (for friends updates), Shannon’s iPod Touch, Twitterific (the desktop app that I’ve found) and who knows where it will show up next. Great time to learn how the stock market works. About two weeks ago I put a small sum of money into the stock market because I was determined to learn how the rise and fall of our market worked and from what I’ve read or watched Cramer (Mad Money TV Show) say the best way to learn is by investing a little money in companies that you’ve studied and monitor how the rise and fall works. Its also a noted good time to learn because our stocks have been so low they don’t have any other place to go except up! I’ve been investing and watching in two different stocks (up until now) Teck Cominco Limited (TCK) which is is engaged primarily in the exploration for, and the development and production of natural resources. and Temple-Inland Inc. which manufactures corrugated packaging and building products. Now a few things I’ve learned is that you shouldn’t buy stocks because you like the company (IE Apple) because you’ll have a harder time looking at stats and numbers objectively when your so excited about the new Mac Book Pro’s (that are being officially announced tomorrow! January 6th!). Companies like Temple-Inland are companies that have been around, are small per share stocks and are making money.

The exciting part for me on all of this is that, I’m learning AND making some money. I’ve been in two week and I’m up collectively 36.5% of my money. I have noted however, that the market is an odd beast. Take Apple for instance, this is a company changing the computer industry, the mp3 industry, the phone industry etc. and the stock rises and falls daily based on what the people of America (and the world) think of Steve Jobs health! One day a few weeks ago a blog wrote that his health was declining and they lost something like $6.00 a share in a day!! Today Steve released a statement that said, I’m fine just had a hormone problem doc’s got it fixed and they recovered $3.80 of it back. Its an emotional bunch of people thinking with their emotions! (Ok, there are facts and numbers involved with some legit concepts or I wouldn’t be learning the ropes myself).

Zecco they even have a virtual trading game that you can sign up for so you can learn without loosing. Now if only our Starbucks stocks that Shannon’s paychecks were going towards would start to perform…
